When designer Oscar de La Renta left home at age 18, the sunny Dominican Republic, to study painting in Madrid, he could not imagine that he was going to meet such a cinematographic destination. In her luggage, she brought colors, perfumes and a refined latinity, which won for ever the heart and the taste of the elegant women of Europe and then the United States, where she built her empire of glamor.
